Donate Your Books and Give Them a Second Life!
Your gently used books and media have the power to make a difference at the Nancy Carson Library. By donating them, you not only breathe new life into these materials but also contribute to the thriving community of library patrons. It’s a win-win situation!
When and Where to Donate
We gladly accept your donations during regular library hours. Simply bring them to the library, and our friendly staff will guide you through the process. Please refrain from leaving donations in the book drop box or outside the library to ensure their safety.
Accepted Donations
We welcome the following gently used items:
- Fiction and non-fiction books in both hardback and paperback formats.
- Media items such as CDs, DVDs, books on CD, and video games.
- Children’s and teen books to nurture young minds.
- Foreign language books to promote cultural diversity.
- Homeschool materials to support alternative education.
- Other items like computer games, board games, and jigsaw puzzles that inspire learning and leisure.
Vintage materials that may hold significant value for collectors and enthusiasts.
Donations We Cannot Accept
To maintain the quality and relevance of our collection, we are unable to accept certain items, including:
- Moldy, wet, torn, or severely damaged books.
- Out-of-date encyclopedias, textbooks, and computer books.
- Travel books older than five years that may have outdated information.
- Audio cassettes (books or music) and video cassettes (VHS tapes).
- Most magazines that are over one year old.
Receipts for Your Generosity
Your donation of gently used books is considered a charitable contribution. If you would like a receipt for your records, you can request one from the circulation desk. However, please note that neither library staff nor our dedicated Friends volunteers can provide estimated values for donated materials.
